Who Controls PC Hardware?

Microsoft has always had majority control over PC software due to its dominance of the primary PC operating systems, but what about the hardware? It's clear that IBM was in charge of the PC hardware standard until 1987. After all, IBM was the first to create a core PC motherboard. The ROM BIOS interface, serial and parallel port implementations, and the original extension bus slot design (8/16-bit ISA bus). The ROM BIOS interface, serial and parallel port implementations, and the original extension bus slot design (8/16-bit ISA bus). Power supply designs, keyboard interfaces, mouse interfaces, and even the physical forms (form factors) of everything from the motherboard to expansion cards, power supplies, and system chassis are all examples of form factors.

The true question, in my opinion, is which company is responsible for developing and inventing newer and more modern PC hardware designs, interfaces, and standards. When I ask someone that question, their reactions are usually hesitant. Some people say Microsoft (which controls the software but not the hardware), while others say HP or Dell or a few other well-known system manufacturers. Some, on the other hand, guess the correct answer—Intel.
