The Entry of Chinese contract manufacturers in PC Hardware
You may be wondering, why am I still not talking about Asus, Foxconn, ECS, MSI, and GIGABYTE motherboard? Because at present these are the most used PC motherboards. The current generation may not even know that there is or was a PC motherboard called Intel, IBM. They are familiar with Asus, ECS, Gigabyte, Msi, Esonic, Gigasonic, Foxconn as PC motherboards.
Following a slump in the industry in 2001, Intel focused on its core skill of chip manufacturing and began using Intel-branded motherboards from Chinese contract manufacturers such as Foxconn. Contract manufacturers like Asus, Foxconn, ECS, MSI, and GIGABYTE have effectively taken over the motherboard manufacturing business since then. The chipset, which includes the majority of the motherboard electronics, is the most important portion of every motherboard, regardless of which business actually makes the boards. About 80% of PCs on the market today use Intel CPUs, and the majority of them are connected to motherboards with Intel chipsets.
Because Intel owns the PC motherboard and most of the components on it, it controls the PC hardware standard. It not only manufactures many of today's motherboards, but it also supplies the vast majority of CPUs and motherboard chipsets to other motherboard manufacturers.
