Processor Manufacturing

The light is focused on the wafer surface as it travels through a mask, exposing the photoresist to the image of that chip layer. A die is a name given to each individual chip picture. The wafer is then shifted slightly by a stepper, and the identical mask imprints another chip die just next to the previous one. After a layer of material and photoresist is imprinted on the whole wafer, a caustic solution is used to wash away the places where light impacted the photoresist, leaving the mask impressions of the individual chip circuit components and pathways. The next mask exposes and then etches the next layer of circuitry, after which another layer of semiconductor material is put on the wafer with additional photoresists on top. The layers and components of each chip are created one on top of the other until the chips are completed using this process.

The metallization layers, which are metal interconnects that connect all of the individual transistors and other components, are added to some of the masks. The majority of older chips had aluminum interconnects, however many switched to copper around 2002. The 0.18-micron Athlon manufactured at AMD's Dresden fab was the first commercial PC CPU chip to use copper, while Intel transferred the Pentium 4 to copper with the 0.13-micron Northwood variant. Copper is a superior conductor to aluminum and enables smaller, lower-resistance interconnects, allowing for smaller and quicker devices. Copper hadn't been employed before due to significant corrosion issues throughout the production process, which weren't as bad with aluminum.

Dell Alienware M11x R2 Laptop

Overview:

The Alienware M11x R2 is just as good as the original M11x, which was introduced earlier M11x R2 released year. Although there are alternative gaming laptops in the 13-inch and 14-inch sizes, the Alienware M11x is still the only game in town if you want great performance in an 11-inch laptop. The M11x R2 is the greatest choice for road warriors who also want to have fun, thanks to its sturdy construction, compact size, adequate performance, and low price. Although the new Core i7 configuration doesn't deliver much better performance than the previous M11x with overclocked Intel Pentium Dual Core SU4100, the faster CPU and Nvidia Optimus provide two more reasons to popular the Alienware M11x R2 if you haven't already done so. We still believe Alienware should provide a matte screen option, and some users may prefer a detachable battery. However, if you're searching for an ultraportable gaming laptop, the Alienware M11x remains your sole option.
