SYSmark is an application-based benchmark

SYSmark is an application-based benchmark that uses scripts to perform real-world tasks in popular programs. It's used by a lot of firms to test and evaluate PC systems and components. The SYSmark benchmark is far more current and realistic than Intel's previous iCOMP test, and because it is open to the public, the results may be independently confirmed. The SYSmark benchmark program is available from BAPCo. Because AMD, NVIDIA, and VIA left from BAPco in 2011, SYSmark 2012 (the current version is SYSmark 2014) became controversial. These firms dropped out of BAPco because they feel this version of the SYSmark benchmark is optimized for Intel CPUs rather than being processor agnostic.

AMD's current consumer-level processor designs have highlighted the function of the integrated GPU and hybrid computing (the usage of both CPU and GPU for computations), whereas Intel, although including integrated GPUs in its newest CPUs, places a premium on CPU performance. Meanwhile, VIA focuses on ultra-low power consumption and fundamental computer job optimization. Intel, AMD, and VIA are no longer pursuing the same aims in chip design, as various technology columnists have pointed out, thus a shared benchmark may no longer make sense.
