Asus X99 Rampage V Extreme Motherboard

Asus X99 Rampage V Extreme Review

Hello everybody! Welcome back to my other motherboard review, which is Asus Rampage V Extreme Motherboard. Asus updated this motherboard to high-end ROG. This motherboard is specifically designed for the republic of gamers. This motherboard has awesome features, and Asus focuses on the intended features: OC panel. We're going to talk about more later in this review. Other features like the OSI panel, OSI socket, M2 slot, and SATA Express connectors integrated 802 11 AC Wi-Fi input/output. Oh! one thing I forgot about is the Asus X99 Rampage V Extreme Release Date is September 2014.

On opening up the box to get the board, we first had to rumble through the really big bundle that usually comes with all ROG motherboards, especially in the rampage series. We have an input/output shield for weigh-in, a 3-way SLI bridge, user manuals with some label stickers for the cables and ROG door hanger, A crossfire bridge, ROG OC panel cable, two-way SLI bridge, ten SATA-2 cables, Q connectors, and OC panel bare metal case and finally the motherboard itself.

Motherboard Circuit Inspection

Taking a good look at the motherboard, you can feel that ROG design from top to bottom, everything in black and aggressive red color scheme making this environment very familiar for us in comparison to the last generation of rampage extreme on the X79 platform. Most of the noticeable redesign fell off to the chipset and VRM coolers and the portion surrounding the input/output bed panel, which is also part of the cooling solution implementation. As seen on the rampage series in Z97 and Z87 ROG motherboards, maybe you also. Now we have a ROG logo blowing just beneath the CPU socket. The CPU socket is run by eight quad-channel DDR4 DIMM slots supporting up to 3300 megahertz Ram. The extreme DIGI+ for power design, like the micro-fine alloy, chokes 10k black metallic capacitors for the VRM section. There are also four red PCI Express GEN3 slots capable of four-way SLI and crossfire configuration with 2x x16 and 2x x8 configurations. There is one more black X16 gen to start running, and X4 and the PCI Z1 slot are second-generation PCI Express slots on the left side of the motherboard.

We have an audio portion separated in red and hold the motherboard circuit's maximum effects, which is the actual text and chip with some premium audio caps and overall better audio components going around the edge of the motherboard. On the bottom of the motherboard, you can see a lot of standard connectors like the USB to USB, 3 header front panels, audio headers, and something out of the ordinary soundstage switch for changing the audio equalizers.

The KEYBOT and BIOS switch is On the bottom right side of the motherboard. There are 12 standard SATA connectors; four of them are used. If needed, two separated SATA Express connectors are needed right next to it, another USB-3 header, and contact points for measuring the voltages. The obligatory 8-pin is accompanying the 24-pin ATX power connector, and additional for PDPS power connectors behind the VRM heat sinks squeezed between RAM slots and the 24-pin ATX power connector. The amplitude slot for up to 110 millimeter long drives is in the right top corner. You can see a bunch of switches and buttons like the MemOk, CMOS, reset slow mode switch, or the LN2 or clocking PC Express line on and off switches, power on and off button debugger LED screen. Alongside, three fan headers cramped in a tiny portion of the motherboard.

Back I/O

Go around to the motherboard's backside to check out the back I/O. There are also the audio inputs and outputs 3 antenna connection points with a Wi-Fi module itself 8 USB-3 ports. Surrounding Intel's Gigabit LAN PS2 combo port is about 2 USB ports, an RG connect, and CMOS reset switches; take a closer look at the old cPanel. You'll find some connection points for defense and other features like the VGA hotwire slow mode and pause switches on the left side of it and the sub-zero probes.
