Asus Maximus VI Gene Motherboard Review

Let's check out the Asus Maximus VI Gene motherboard. It's a micro ATX motherboard with all kinds of fancy stuff. You can see all this fancy stuff that comes with the motherboard box. We're going to cover all features in this review one by one. First, we check out the accessories that we get in the box. So, of course, you've got your eye opener for the back, and everything is excellent and labeled it. Has a black graphic with the ROG logo Over there in the corner. Okay, this is cool. Oh, I'll get to that in a second, so that's so cool it deserves its segment. There's our SLI bridge with the ROG logo on it. We've got six SATA cables and eight SATA on the motherboard. So lots of those, there's a Q connector. For some standoffs, the Q connector is the handiest thing ever, the most convenient. We also have a user guide and drivers and turn that around on the CD. I take a look at the actual motherboard itself. I want to note that I haven't played with this yet😊😊. Now I wanted to give you guys an overview of the exact motherboard.

First, we start with the CPU socket. The CPU socket 1150 for Haswell CPUs and this thing is going to be quite lovely for overclocking. Thanks to the DIGI+ VRM system. VR in this is like the third generation; I believe that DIGI+ 3, they call it. We've got black-winged chokes. The chokes are rated at 60 amps. It's like twice as good as like choked. You can get some of the best MOSFETs on the planet, and I also want to note that all caps are solid-state capacitors from Japan. But they're not just the standard solid-state capacitors. You see, on any old motherboard, these are as good as it gets. These are 10k capacitors. Most of the time, if you look closely at the capacitors, they'll be like 2K or 5K. So we have 10k capacitors here, and it's going to give you clean power going to your motherboard. Also, we got these fins here that will lower the temperatures on the entire VRM by a few degrees Celsius. Do you know anything that can help the T topology in this next generation? Over here for RAM slots, which can run DDR3 at speeds of up to 3,000 megahertz with overclocking.

There is our memo k button beside the RAM slot, and I won't entirely get into this, but this can help if you are having some trouble with your memory. It can also be a softer or a soft CMOS reset. Because it only resets like the frequencies on the CPU and the RAM. It will not mess with any of your other settings in your UEFI. Alright, got some fan connectors. There is your 24-pin ATX power connector, and then USB 3 there, and you can see here we have 8 SATA connectors, that's all 6 gigabits per second. Moving on down here, front panel connectors and things and then beside that, another fan connector. There's your direct key and your trusted platform module (TPM). If you need that, you probably know what that is, but if you don't know what that is, you don't need it. Now USB, you know, headers down here and audio titles all that fancy stuff, and also we have a 1394 header down here power and reset button, onboard SP  there.

Now let's check out the audio because this has what they're claiming is some of the best onboard audio on the planet, and you'll notice this is the one spot on the motherboard where the capacitors are different. They're using premium LNA capacitors from Japan, which are specific for the audio to give it a nice warmer sound, and it's also an op-amp on board. So with the supreme FX, they've gone, you know, crazy. With it, a signal-noise ratio on this. It is a 105, 115. I'll have to double-check, but it should be an excellent transparent source. I'm still determining what the output impedances are to try out some headphones and just see how it sounds compared to the O2 amp DAC I have, but this should be as good. If not better than most sound card solutions, check this out. They've got it, you know, separated from the rest of the components on the motherboard, which will help with some of the noise. It's not going to help out with the static and stuff in the system, but it will help out with noise. It's coming from the other components that are on the PCB here. So that's nice and fancy. Alright, another fan connector there must remember that those are very important, you can see there. We have two 16s B PCI Express connectors, which support crossfire and SLI down here. On the bottom, we have another PCI Express connector; this could be great for you. If you want to run a dual network card or I don't, let me know in the comment box what you'll put in there.

All right, let's look at the back audio channel audio, and I double-checked the signal noise ratio of 115 decibels. So you shouldn't hear any noise at all with even 3200m headphones Intel Nick in there, and we've also got something called game first, which is interesting in the UEFI. It'll allow you to select what package you want to prioritize. So packet prioritization is excellent, and I love the integration into the UEFI. You don't even need software if you wish to game or peer-to-peer file-sharing or whatever to have the priority; as far as the packet prioritization goes, it sounds wordy. You can do it with USB 3.0, two of those they're optical audio HDMI sports 4k at 24 Hertz more USB 3.0 USB 2.0 clear CMOS and USB BIOS flashback and you can check out our video on that and also work with ROG connect and then there's absolutely nothing here except for freaking this is stay there. Oh, I'm putting in backward. Yep, that's how it goes. It screws on right there, and this is your M PCI Express or your mini PCI Express combo 2 card.

This gives you know many PCI Express, but it also gives you an M2 slot. M2 is going to be replaced very soon. There are only a few EM two drives out right now, but it is the next generation for tiny SATA-type storage. The mini PCI Express will allow you to hook up like Wireless or, you know, all kinds of different things to that, so those are inside there, and it plugs in right here, and there's a ton of stuff that you can do with this a couple more things to know before we close up the review. It does have the connector for the ROG front panel, you know, cPanel, and that's cool. It's an additional accessory you can pick up if you want to have, like all the front panel coolness and external overclocking through that as possible. This one also has dual intelligent processors, and if you've seen the old videos with Asus and JJ, you'll know exactly what that means.

If not, it's got a PU and TPUe. PU is like an energy-efficient mode, and it's an under-voltage algorithm, and it can be used for people who are just trying to save some power, but you're not going to be using that with this guarantee. You're not going to be using that with this. You're probably using either the TPU or you're going to be doing the overclock yourself, and you can do that with the LCD panel. You can do it in the UEFI, or you can even do it right in Windows with four-way optimization. The four-way optimization works; we've got some videos on that, and it works on this motherboard. So, all in all, many features on this motherboard are premium components. Everywhere spared no expense as far as any of that goes, probably one of the best micro ATX Z87 motherboards.
