Asus Maximus VII Hero Schematic, Manual, Driver & Bios || Asus Maximus VII Hero Review
Today we will review the Asus Maximus VII Hero of the Asus ROG series. The new Z97 chipset, the Asus Maximus VII Hero, builds upon the previous generation motherboard by adding support for M.2 and Intel 5th generation CPUs, not to be outdone by the Asus Maximus VII Formula. The hero series of motherboards aims to provide many of the features gamers want, such as better audio and Internet connectivity, without going over budget.
Accessories
Inside the box, you'll find six SATA 6 gigabits per second cables, a rear I/O shield, stickers, labels for your cables, a rog door tag, and the standard drivers DVD and manual.
Layout Design
Like the rest of Asus, this Maximus lineup, a seven-hero, features an updated red and black design that Asus has associated with this gamer lineup. The overall design scheme has been updated from the previous generation. Asus Maximus VII Hero with the new heatsink design and layout due to the addition of the M.2 slot. The new heatsink design Asus has also done an industry-first. They have two different colors on the identical PCB. If you look under the VR section and chipset heatsink, you'll see red highlights. It's great to see innovation, even in little places, regarding PCIe connectivity. There are two 3.0 x16 lanes and three 2.0 x1 lanes since this is a Z97 motherboard. You'll find the M.2 slot sitting near the DIMM slots. The M.2 slot on the hero supports NG form-factor drives, not either 60 millimeters or 80 millimeters in length. On the top right of the motherboard, you'll find hardware buttons for power. Reset and MemOk. This MemOk button allows you to debug your system before putting it inside a case.
Connectivity
Asus has also included their upgrade supreme FX audio. Separate two audio components from the rest of the PCB to prevent electrical noise interference. All the capacitors are from Eln, and Asus has also implemented its sonic audio suite adds tons of functionality, such as custom sound stages and AMP configurations for SATA connectivity. There are eight SATA6 gigabits per second ports on the right side of the motherboard. You are considering this as a higher-end board. It's odd to see that there are no SATA Express slots available on the motherboard itself for Internet connectivity. Asus has decided to go with them until you think of that option, as it offers better throughput and uses fewer CPU cycles. They've also implemented the new game's first three technology. It can provide games with higher bandwidth priority. So you don't experience any lag. The new Ki Baat function allows you to easily plug any keyboard into the dedicated USB slot to assign macro keys. For example, you could set F11 to overclock your CPU and press F9 to open up steam instantly.
Rear I/O
On the rear I/O, you'll find the PS2 mouse, keyboard port, two USB 2.0 and 42 speed 3.0 ports, HDMI, VGA, and DVI out, a BIOS flashback button, 7.1 audio out, and the Intel Ethernet port. Overall the ASUS Maximus 7 Hero is a gorgeous-looking motherboard. That offers tons of capabilities in both the gaming and overclocking departments. It sits between the more affordable Maximus 7 Ranger faults.
The Asus Maximus VII Formula will be their top-end forward for the Intel Z97 chipset. They can handle pretty much anything if you want a red and black motherboard. The ASUS Maximus 7 Hero should be on your list if you are considering building a new Z97 gaming setup.
