Acer Aspire 3690 Motherboard

The Acer Aspire 3690 laptop computer was introduced in 2006. It was created for the budget-conscious consumer searching for a dependable and functional laptop at a reasonable price. This laptop was marketed as an entry-level system for people needing basic computing skills.

Design and Hardware

The Acer Aspire 3690 sports a 15.4-inch display with a 1280x800 resolution. The laptop is powered by a 1.6 GHz Intel Celeron M CPU with 512 MB of DDR2 memory. This system includes a 60 GB hard disk and an Intel GMA 950 graphics card. In addition, the laptop has a CD/DVD drive, an integrated camera, and a 5-in-1 card reader. The Acer Aspire 3690 has a simple design with a plain black case that doesn't stick out. The laptop contains a normal keyboard, touchpad, and no notable ports or features.

Performance and Battery Life

The Acer Aspire 3690's performance is acceptable for basic computer tasks like web browsing, email, and word processing. It suffers, however, with more demanding tasks such as video editing and gaming. The 512 MB RAM can be a bottleneck, and the Intel Celeron M CPU could be faster. The Acer Aspire 3690's battery life is also fairly limited, lasting about 2-3 hours on a single charge. This is owing to the machine's comparatively low-capacity battery.

Operating System and Software

The Acer Aspire 3690 came with Windows XP Home Edition at first. However, the operating system may be upgraded to Windows Vista or Windows 7. The laptop also has many pre-installed software packages, including Acer's eDataSecurity Management, Acer GridVista, Acer Launch Manager, and Norton AntiVirus.

Upgradability

The Acer Aspire 3690 has the virtue of being quite simple to update. The memory may be increased to a maximum capacity of 2 GB, and the hard drive can be replaced with a greater capacity unit. The laptop also features a mini-PCIe port for adding extra hardware, such as a WiFi card.

Price and Value

The Acer Aspire 3690 cost roughly $500 when it was first introduced. Its basic hardware specifications provided good value for money at that price range. Unfortunately, as technology has improved, this laptop has become obsolete, and fresh ones are now difficult to obtain for sale. Used units are still available online, often for $50-100.
